September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and reflect on the ongoing impacts of the residential school system on Indigenous Peoples.

The day coincides with Orange Shirt Day, which encourages learning, awareness, and meaningful reflection on this chapter of Canada’s history.

At MT+Co., reconciliation is an ongoing journey. We recognize the importance of taking time to learn, listen, and engage with the communities around us, and we’re grateful for opportunities to support initiatives that foster education, understanding, and connection.

This year, we are supporting two community-led events in Victoria:

Truth & Reconciliation Day Ride

MT+Co. is proud to serve as the Youth Learning Sponsor of the Truth & Reconciliation Day Ride, presented by Capital Bike in partnership with Victoria Orange Shirt Day and Songhees Nation. The ride brings people together to honour Survivors, learn about the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools, and reflect on the work of reconciliation.

South Island Powwow

We are also honoured to support the South Island Powwow as a Silver Sponsor. Hosted by Songhees Nation, the Powwow creates space for community members to come together to celebrate Indigenous cultures, traditions, and resilience through song, dance, and gathering.
