About

Allan is a lawyer in our Indigenous Law Group. He works primarily with Indigenous Nations, Indigenous-owned businesses, and forestry sector clients.

Allan is driven to assist Indigenous Nations in attaining self-determination and stewardship over their forest and natural resources. Allan’s years of operational forestry experience allow him to provide practical and sustainable forest resource development solutions grounded in a deep understanding of British Columbia’s regulatory framework.

EXPERTISE

Allan advises Indigenous Nations and businesses on forest resource development, natural resource development, economic development, commercial transactions, UNDRIP implementation, and governance.

Allan assists forestry sector clients with drafting fiber supply and forestry services agreements and with tenure transactions.

Before becoming a lawyer, Allan worked for six years in the British Columbia forest industry in both the private and public sectors. As a Registered Professional Forester, Allan’s forestry practice focused on multi-phase timber development and timber harvesting supervision in the forestry and oil and gas industries. He also has experience developing forest health management plans and wildfire rehabilitation prescriptions. Before becoming a forest professional, Allan gained six seasons of operational experience in wildfire management as a wildfire fighter with the British Columbia Wildfire Service.

Allan maintains active involvement in the British Columbia forest industry as a Registered Professional Forester with Forest Professionals British Columbia.

WORTH NOTING

Allan is Stó:lō and a member of the Skwah First Nation. He grew up in Williams Lake in Secwépemc Territory.

When not in the office, Allan takes every opportunity to spend time in nature, only now without a hard hat and caulk boots. He is an avid mountain biker and enjoys hiking, hunting, fishing, and foraging.
