Carl works with First Nation governments, Indigenous organizations and a wide range of businesses and institutions. He offers straight forward pragmatic advice, focusing on clear analysis and understanding of the overall issues. Carl’s collaborative and solution-oriented approach has consistently helped clients achieve their goals.
Carl is called to the bar in Ontario and Nunavut and before coming to MT+Co he worked for over a decade in the Indigenous, northern and energy practice group of a respected Toronto law firm.
EXPERTISE
Carl practices business law. His practice includes a wide range of corporate and commercial matters including, impact benefit agreements, exploration agreements, power purchase agreements, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, equity financing and corporate governance.
Carl works with First Nation governments and Indigenous organizations in Ontario and Nunavut as well as a wide range of businesses in multiple industries.
In Ontario, Carl has assisted First Nation governments to successfully conclude several impact benefit agreements, and in Nunavut, where he acts for a Regional Inuit Association, he has assisted in the successful conclusion of the regions two Inuit impact benefits agreements for the Hope Bay gold project and the Back River gold project.

Outside of work, Carl enjoys spending time with his three daughters, gardening while having a beer, cooking while having a beer, and thinking about going to the gym after having a beer.
