Jaime Hills
Articled Student
About
Jaime is an articling student at MT+Co. She is passionate about creating genuine connections and takes pride in her authenticity, work ethic, and creative problem-solving. Jaime is interested in Business Law and Corporate Law but appreciates working with and learning from every group at MT+Co.
EXPERTISE
Jaime worked with our Business Law, Workplace Law, and Litigation and Dispute Resolution groups as a summer student, gaining experience and knowledge in the process.
While at UVic Law, Jaime worked as a peer tutor, providing first-year students with substantive legal and wellness support. She also worked alongside Dr. Asad Kiyani as a research assistant analyzing judicial decision-making in racial profiling cases.
Jaime was fortunate to have the opportunity to complete her last semester of law school in Aotearoa New Zealand, where she studied an introduction to tikanga Māori and the interaction between Māori customs and state laws. The experience deeply impacted her legal learning, and she hopes to bring the perspective she gained to her work back home.
WORTH NOTING
Before attending law school, Jaime worked and volunteered as a basketball colour commentator and analyst, appearing (briefly) on TSN and Sportsnet. She loves to watch and talk sports and has rediscovered her love of the Canucks after a few years’ hiatus.
Jaime has been a part of several teams of amazing women, including as a varsity basketball player, a basketball coach for young girls, and a surf instructor at Surf Sister. She takes great pride in building on and encouraging the strength of the women around her and has always been inspired in this way by her family.
Outside of work, Jaime loves to spend time outside and around the ocean. She loves surfing and camping and has recently found a new love of running in the rain. When she’s not outside, she enjoys playing crib or backgammon with her partner or reading a good book.
