Luke Casburn

Luke is a lawyer in our Vancouver office and a member of our Litigation + Dispute Resolution Group. In his practice, Luke acts for a wide range of clients, from individuals and small businesses to public companies, offering a proactive, results-oriented approach to his files. Luke is calm and collected, with a strong sense of advocacy for his clients. He regularly appears on applications, seeks judgments where appropriate, and takes steps to enforce court orders, ensuring matters progress efficiently and in accordance with his clients’ commercial objectives.

Originally from Galway, Ireland, Luke arrived in Canada in 2017 to begin his legal career. Before joining MT+Co., Luke practiced at a leading national firm.

EXPERTISE

Luke’s practice includes a broad range of civil and commercial litigation matters, including franchise disputes, contractual disputes, defamation claims, property disputes, arbitrations, and shareholder disputes. Luke works across diverse industries, including technology, securities, telecommunications, hospitality, and leasing. Beyond litigation, Luke has secured court approval for several multi-million-dollar plans of arrangement, contributing to the successful completion of major corporate transactions.

Recent experience includes:

• 0928234 B.C. Ltd. v. Starmark Properties Corp. – Counsel for the plaintiff, successfully obtaining summary judgment dismissing the plaintiff’s claims against two defendants.
• Vallance and others v. Penrose Bay Estates Limited – Counsel for the petitioners, successfully obtaining and enforcing an interim arbitration order. 

WORTH NOTING

Luke has been involved in several annual community events, including organizing the Power To Be charity hike and putting together teams for the Canada SCORES soccer tournament and the Hooplaw basketball tournament, both of which support youth-focused community programs.

Outside of the office, Luke enjoys playing football (soccer), going to concerts, and golfing with friends. He is also an avid board game player.
