About

Nick is a lawyer in our Business Law Group. He values working closely with his clients in a collaborative, responsive and team-oriented style, investing time in understanding their business, priorities and long-term objectives. This allows him to align his legal advice with what the client is ultimately trying to accomplish and to provide advice that is focused, practical and value-driven. Nick believes that the best outcomes are achieved through clear communication, strong teamwork and a consistent focus on the client’s objectives.

EXPERTISE

Nick maintains a primary practice focus on private mergers and acquisitions, complemented by experience in corporate and commercial law, banking and finance, and securities matters. Nick works with clients across industries and at all stages of growth, advising them on acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations and related acquisition financings.

He also assists clients with a broad range of corporate and commercial matters and banking and finance transactions, including supporting transactions from initial structuring and due diligence through to the negotiation of purchase agreements, preparation of disclosure schedules and closing.

Recent successes include advising a Canadian private company on its $35 million acquisition of 10 corporate stores and associated franchising rights and technologies, as well as advising a British Columbia medical technology company and its U.S. subsidiary on two strategic cross-border acquisitions involving specialized intellectual property and regenerative cellular technologies.

WORTH NOTING

Rugby has been a significant part of Nick’s life since childhood: he went on to play varsity rugby while at the University of British Columbia and represented Canada in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

Although his competitive playing days are behind him, Nick stays active through training, hiking, and snowboarding, while doing his best to delay being labelled “washed up.” He also enjoys exploring British Columbia with his dog, Jack.
