MT+Co.’s Merle Craig Alexander Recognized with Queen’s Counsel Designation

Merle Craig Alexander, QC
The recipients of the honorary title of Queen’s counsel (QC) for 2019 have been announced, and we are proud to share that our shareholder and colleague Merle Craig Alexander has been recognized with the QC designation.
Merle is a hereditary chief of the Tsimshian Nation and a member of the Kitasoo Xai’xais First Nation. He practices Indigenous Resource Law empowering Nations through Title and Rights affirmation, sustainable economic development and environmental conservation. He has devoted his practice to making impactful contributions to Indigenous reconciliation.
Merle was also awarded the QC designation for his contribution to the advancement of Indigenous lawyers and students.
On December 2, 2019, Merle was also re-appointed as a member of the University of Victoria Board of Governors, where he plays an important role on governing the affairs of the University of Victoria.
We are so proud and honoured to work alongside Merle, and we are pleased to see him be recognized for his important contributions to Indigenous Nations and Canada.
